Missy's Sock Puppets

Email share

Hey, hey! My name is Missy and I’m an artist and guest blogger here at PBS KIDS Utah. If you’re anything like me, you have a stash of socks in your laundry room that have lost their mates. I have a perfect, crafty solution for these orphaned socks.

Supplies

  • Socks
  • Felt
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Yarn
  • Needle
  • Fabric glue

Instructions

  1. Put a sock over your hand and push in the toe part to create a mouth space.
  2. Use your scissors to cut a piece of felt like an uppercase letter D.
  3. Glue this piece inside the mouth space with the flat side facing out.
  4. Glue on some googly eyes.
  5. Decide what kind of nose your puppet has (nostril slits, cat nose, etc) and cut it out of felt.
  6. Glue on the nose.
  7. Decide what kind of ears your puppet has (big, small, pointed, rounded, etc) and cut them out of felt.
  8. Glue on the ears.
  9. Decide on any type of hair/whiskers your puppet has. You can use your needle and thread to create these.
  10. Let all the glue dry.

Wrap Up

Now you have a puppet you can play with. Make more puppets and you can put on a puppet show! Be creative and have fun!
