Missy's Ribbon Tree Ornaments

Email share

Hey, hey! My name is Missy. I’m an artist and blogger here at PBS KIDS Utah. I put up my Christmas tree the other day. I always like to create new ornaments every year and thought a ‘Ribbon Tree’ ornament would be pretty. Here’s how to make one.

Supplies

  • Cinnamon stick (or silvervine stick)
  • Assorted ribbon
  • Glue
  • Plastic/paper star
  • Scissors
  • Pipe cleaner

Instructions

  1. Make a 2” loop out of pipe cleaner and use your scissors to cut off the excess.
  2. Glue that loop to the top of your stick.
  3. Take one of your ribbons and cut it about 5” long.
  4. Tie that ribbon in a square knot at the very top of your stick.
  5. Take another ribbon and cut it about 5” long.
  6. Tie that ribbon in a square knot directly below the first ribbon.
  7. Keep adding ribbons until you have about an inch of stick left.
  8. Now use your scissors to trim the ends of the ribbon. Keep the ones on the bottom the longest and the ones at the top the shortest.
  9. Glue your star to the top of your tree.

Wrap Up

Now you have a cute ‘Ribbon Tree’ ornament. You can hang it on your own tree. You can give it to a friend or family member. Be creative and have fun!
