Missy's Christmas Tree

Email share

Howdy! My name is Missy. I’m a guest blogger and artist. The other day I was at a friend's house and saw the cutest decoration his daughter made. A handprint Christmas tree on felt with tons of decorations. I snapped a photo and that’s the project I’m going to share with you this week.

Supplies

  • A sheet of white felt
  • Scissors
  • Wooden dowel/bamboo stick
  • Yarn
  • Green paint
  • Paint brush
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Ribbon
  • Embellishments (sequins, beads, shiny things, etc)

Instructions

  1. Lay your felt out in front of you vertically.
  2. Squeeze green paint onto the middle of your palm and use your paintbrush to paint it all over the palm of your hand and fingers.
  3. Make handprints on the felt in the shape of a tree (palm in the middle, fingers sticking out to the edges).
  4. Let the paint dry.
  5. Cut a small piece of ribbon and glue it to the base of the tree. This is a present.
  6. Add a bow to the top of the present. Secure with glue.
  7. Take your pipe cleaner and bend it into a zig-zag shape. This will be the tinsel on your tree. Glue the tinsel to the tree.
  8. Make dots of glue all over your tree and use them to secure your embellishments to the tree. These are the ornaments.
  9. Glue the dowel to the top of the felt sheet.
  10. Use the side of the felt sheet to measure a piece of yarn.
  11. Cut the yarn and tie it to the ends of the dowel. This will hang your Christmas tree.

Wrap Up

Now you have a fun Christmas decoration to hang on your wall. You can add your name and the year. This would even be a fun gift for your parents. Be creative and have fun!
