Missy's Beaded Bracelet

Email share

Hey there! My name is Missy. I’m an artist and guest blogger here at PBS KIDS Utah. It seems like beaded friendship bracelets are super popular these days. I thought it would be fun to create our own beaded friendship bracelets.

Supplies

  • Pony beads
  • Smaller beads
  • Stretch cording
  • Scissors
  • Ruler

Instructions

  1. Cut a piece of stretch cording about 24 inches long.
  2. String one Pony bead onto the cord, center it.
  3. Now string a second bead onto the cord.
  4. Take the opposite end of the cord and string it through the second bead, the opposite direction. Pull the ends taut (the holes of the beads will be parallel instead of lined up).
  5. Now take a third Pony bead and do the same thing that you did with your second bead.
  6. Repeat this over and over until you have enough beads on your cord to go around your wrist.
  7. When you come to your final bead, string the cord through the very first bead and tie the cord in a double knot.
  8. String a few smaller beads on each of the dangling cord ends.
  9. Tie double knots in both ends of the cord.

Wrap Up

Now you have a gorgeous beaded friendship bracelet you can wear yourself or give to a friend. Make more bracelets and share them with friends and family. Be creative and have fun!
